Snowboarding in the Northwest has been off to a slow start everywhere but Mt. Bachelor, Oregon. Last weekend the entire state of Washington descended on Bend for the 8th Annual Dirksen Derby. Even Glacier, WA showed up smelling like wet dog and weed smoke ready to pump berms.
The event is what the Baker Banked Slalom must have been like in its early years — all good vibes, low stress, and core dudes on hacksawed swallowtails. It’s no surprise that Colorado native and Mt. Baker transplant, Harry Kearney, took home the top spot.
