    Review: Dakine Cyclone Bag

I got my hands on a Dakine Cyclone Roll Top Bag/Backpack the other day.  Totally stoked on it.  It’s a dry bag made out of that heavy duty vinyl stuff.  Similar to what you see on hipster bike messengers. At 2200 cubic inches, there’s  plenty of room to pack in a XL wetsuit, booties, towel [...]

  • Troncones Mexico – Part 3

    Troncones Mexico – Part 3

Sunday May 9th Sunday myself and 3 others opted out of driving back to El Rancho to go fishing instead.  I was pretty surfed out at this point and figured a morning off might be a good idea. We hired a local Pescador named Samba. Samba is located way at the north end of the [...]

    Troncones Mexico – Part 2

Saturday May 8th On Saturday morning we surfed Troncones again.  The waves were fun early though a bit smaller than the day before.  One of our crew got blasted on the inside and took a few urchin spinos to the foot.  Luckily it was on the top of his foot and he was able to [...]

    Troncones Mexico – Part 1

Myself and a few friends managed a mini Mexican vacation last week.  Spent five days on Manzanillo Bay, 40 minutes outside of Zihuatanejo–walking distance from a couple surf spots. We stayed in a place called Merece Tus Suenos.  Super nice, and not too spendy when you’re splitting the cost with a friend or two.  The [...]

    Taco Shack

Are you so hyped on surfing that you see the shape and form of waves all over the place?!  Like at El Chupacabra in Seattle? I am.  Or maybe im just hyped to go to Mexico in a couple days.  Or maybe it’s almost Cinco De Mayo.  Or all of the above. Ay yayayayayayayay!

    Westport Cove 050210

Surfed Westport last Sunday (05.02.10).  It was large and messy.  10 feet 10 seconds and windy as hell.  Surfed up on the north end of the Cove by the rocks where there was some interesting backwash making the head+ set-waves do scary things. Here’s a few pics and a vid of Logan with a whack.  [...]

DIY Surf Photography With The Pentax W90

A few years back i got a big ol waterproof case for my Canon SD450. The camera was good and the case worked great. The only lame thing was how big and bulky the waterproof case was. It was a pain to deal with surfing–difficult to tuck into your wetsuit between sets. So a couple [...]

Hyak Landslide Aerial Photos Before And After

The Federal Government recently released 2009 aerial photos for Washington State.  Here’s a couple shots of Hyak.  The aerial photo on the left is from 2006.  The photo on the right is from Summer 2009. The Hyak landslide occurred January 2009.  It took out both chairlifts and a couple homes skiers-left on the lower mountain.
