Shitty Summer, Sick Winter?

SST AnimationThe robots at NOAA’s climate prediction center have dropped some info on the state of El Niño/La Niña.  At this point it’s looking like we’re heading for some La Niña  conditions.  The ocean runs the show and the Sea Surface Temps (SST) have been dropping fast since May.  Cold ocean = cold weather in the NW.  Makes sense, this summer has been ass.

Here’s what NOAA says:  ” Conditions are favorable for a transition to La Niña conditions during June – August 2010.”  Read more here.

Whether or not this pans out to a legit La Nina winter we’ll have to wait and see.  But if we have to put up with a back-to-back shit winter and shit summer we deserve  some ill winter conditions.

Please?

Here’s a couple more images.  The one on the left shows the current SST and the other show the current +/- SST anomalies.
