I got my hands on a Dakine Cyclone Roll Top Bag/Backpack the other day. Totally stoked on it. It’s a dry bag made out of that heavy duty vinyl stuff. Similar to what you see on hipster bike messengers.
At 2200 cubic inches, there’s plenty of room to pack in a XL wetsuit, booties, towel and a 6er. Comes in black only–no sissy colors. The bag has a roll top closure and is very much water/air tight when closed up. You could use it as a pillow.
I was a little worried about the bag getting stinky after letting a salty, pissy wetsuit soak in it a few hours on the car ride home. Stank free. Kinda nice rolling with a bag rather than a big ‘ol Rubbermaid tub. A little more on the compact side.
In typical Dakine form, the bag is plenty comfortable on your shoulders. It’ll make a great hike in/out option for you mini surf expeditions.
The only thing i might have added to the bag is some sort of hanger loop on the bottom of the bag so you could hang it upside down and let what ever liquid was inside drip out. But you can always get creative.
Pretty stoked on this bag. This is a great addition to my gear and generally a handy piece of equipment to own.
If you’re looking to get some sort of sturdy wetsuit bag check this thing out.

the tarp bags from ikea work great. there on a dollar or two
good idea. but then you have to go to Ikea.
my system is using Outdoor Research dry sacks. they are the same weight and size as a standard stuff sack, but are compleatly waterproof. come in diffrent sizes, are ligjht weight, pack down realy small, and only cost about 16- 20$. like most all OR products they are quality. Just throw your suit and wet gear in the sack and then througho the sack in your backpack.
This lets me use either of my hiking/ climbing packs, wich I already own and am use to using on longer hikes. You can also seperate your wet gear from your dry gear in your pack so your way your wetsuit dosn’t leak on your food, extra clothes, or camera.
LOOOOOOOOOOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!
This bag rawks!!! Oh yeah, I didn't get mine, but I'm sure your's rawks.
I understand that professional drug dealers use "turkey" bags because they lock in the scent better than your regular plastic bags. I think they run about .10 a bag but my guess is they are to small and I dono where you get them. Thus ends my contribution.
Ive been rockin my dry bag i got at Cabelas for a couple years and still works/looks great!! Turkey bags eh? Cool….
Nice. I have been looking for something like this. I have a designated canvas “wetsuit hike b-pack”… which now smells like a urine soaked hobo. you can probably just wash that thing too right?
Im with ripshred, keep the dry, dry, & the wet wet. Not to metion being able to use my Gregory day pack, built and designed for longer hikes. Not to mention DaKine stuff sorta blows. Well at least thier leashes blow. Guess thier packs and bags seem alright.
yeah, i've had some problems with DaKine leashes snapping and the velcro blowing up on me. i think they make pretty rad packs though. i've had a heli-pro for shred for years.
good call on the OR stuff. i'll check that out.
Weird, never had a dakine leash break/snap/blow up/etc. Their packs are the shit though.
