Crystal Mountain is continuing the implementation of their 2004 Master Development Plan. After the ski season ends, construction will begin on a new top-to-bottom Gondola. The new Gondola is scheduled to be ready for winter 2010/2011.
“The base terminal will be where the current Mountain Market/Bumps Espresso is located and bring passengers to the top of Rainier Express and the Summit House.”

I like the park idea:)
I can't imagine this lift will change the character of Crystal as much as Northway did. It's just pushes Crystal one step closer to becoming Washington State's first real resort. …but they'll need a halfpipe
$$ Tickets for sure.
Sweet, giant new gondola that doesn't open any new terrain. Crystal is for sucks.
The gondola (it's not a tram as initially proposed) is intended more for summer use. It doesn't significantly increase uphill capacity during the ski season. It will just get crowded on cold, snowy days.
The terrain park, while inevitable, is unfortunate. Crystal is short of good intermediate slopes to begin with. Taking over most of Mr. Magoo for something that less than 10% of the customers use in the most crowded section of the area was a very poor choice. The Miner's Basin Chair is rarely used any longer, so why didn't they site the terrain park there?
