I got my hands on a 164w Ride Machete the other day. Part 1 of my new kit. I’ve been riding the Ktwah turbo dream that i got a Kamp K2 and love it. Only problem is it’s a bit small for me; both length and width. It’s manageable, but not optimal. The shape and specs of this Machete i got are effing perfect. The waist of the turbo dream was 25.5, the Machete is 26.3. Perfect mid-wide. Length turbo dream 161, Machete 164.
I am now officially a little stoked to snowboard this year.

If the Turbo dream was so perfect except for length and width then you should have got the new 164 Turbo Dream 164 wide with a 26.60 waist. Betta in the powda!
good point. but, 3mm is a big difference. i’ve ridden boards that wide, and that’s too wide for my feet (10.5). the Machete is more like a mid-wide, which is what i like to ride. stuff right around a 26.0 waist.
26.6 is for dudes with like 12, 13 sized feet. poor bastards….

There is a direct correlation between needing a 26.0 vs a 26.6, and needing to use Trojan vs. Trojan Magnum.
Its actually half of that. We are talking about a 266mm and a 263mm

So now that it's the end of the season, how was the Machete? I'm deciding between buying a Libtech TRS or a Machete. I have the same issues with you in terms of waist width for bigger footed riders.
ya know i was thinking about re-writing a post about this board. mainly because im way more stoked on it than i was when i only rode it a handful of times earlier in the year.
the board is sick. flat out. it's pretty much about as good of an all around board as you could get. i've ridden pipe and had plenty of edge hold to be able to boost pretty good. this board completely annihilates chop and is perfect in pow. it's a good stiff board with pop but not crazy stiff. i don't dig crazy stiff boards anyways. i rode it a few weeks ago in utah and had a chance to rip down some cat tracks full of wall hits. it was super fun boosting the wall hits, landing swinging out wide on the cat track and edging back into the wall and hitting another jump. i was riding super low almost surf style hitting the lip. good edge to edge. the progressive sidecut is totally rad. you can initiate a turn and then hammer on the edge and the board will turn crazy tight. i had a lot of fun just hauling ass and carving this board.
i wouldn't change anything about this board. it's fucking sick. buy it.
actually, the top sheet is seriously fucking treacherous slick. hey Ride, will you just make all your boards with that rubbery top sheet stuff? thanks. -drexnefex.
Do you feel it's too soft for more all mountain riding? I've been told by some shop clerks that it's a pretty soft board for folks coming from an all-mountain background. Also, what's your size? I'm 6'4″ 190 lbs.
I'm looking to snag one with the end of the season prices. I'm used to a 168 Burton Canyon but want a softer board that I tool around a bit more yet still handle the steeps and deeps sufficiently. I'm hoping the 164 wide is long enough for me.

the Machete is def not soft. it's not crazy stiff either. i run about 6-3, 210 +/- 5lbs depending on what time of day and the board is plenty stiff for me. plenty of pop, holds well on edge in chunder at speed. it should be good for your size too.

i ride the Machete all over the place. steeps, jumps, pipe, etc. no complaints. it works great in everything. the only thing that's whack is the f-ing top sheet is slicker n shit. seriously. but my hommie JR came up with a genius idea–throw a little tropical/base coat on there and your foot sticks pretty damn good.
