On one of my last surf missions i came across this beast on the beach. Pretty crazy whatever it was. Anybody have any idea? I was thinking it was a seal.
I think we lucked out seeing this cause it the tide got it the following morning.

The skull almost looks like that of an horse or something, lending credence to C-mans larger mamal hypothesis.. need close ups of the teeth.. the teeth will tell us what kind of creature it was.. not that it matters.. cool find though, next time keep the skull

S-man your approaching this thing all wrong. Don’t assume that is the head of the creature. Look at the direction of the Transverse Process (spines off the right and left of the vertebrae). They point towards the head and are more directional near the hips and less pronounced near the head. What also may appear to be the bridge of the creatures nose, or snout, is actually the base of the spine and beginning of the tail.
