I agree that most colabs don’t make sense. On your list of weird ones, Sessions / Metallica happened because the owner of Sessions is buds with the singer of Metallica. The reason Union does one with Snowboard Mag is for tradeout value with advertising. Snowboard Mag also does them with DC, DaKine, Oakley, Grenade, etc etc.

The Ride and Schmidt one is amazing. Hopefully Mavis & Fank & Sickles got a pallet of free beer, but I doubt it.

The Union / Snowboard Mag colab reason is this: We do a binding for them to stoke out some of their customers with, and we get ad pages in their magazine. Win win situation. We do one with Onboard in Europe and a Japanese mag also. It’s a way to stretch marketing dollars.

pretty sure there is a bunch of porn and board things going on. Oh.. star wars and capita that was dumb.. schmidt and scott goggles… schmidt and omlb.. shimano and k2..
