Well, it started at 4:30 in the morning, left Ballard at five in the morning. Probably an inch on the ground and snowing hard. Signs are good, Curt Ass came in loaded with egg sandwich’s and coffee. Roads pretty good, a little bumpy ice style through Mt Vernon, a pretty solid 60 the whole way. Ten inches of new overnight and 17 in the last 24 hours. Got there after 8:30. Snow was light (of course), about 14 degrees and pretty good coverage. First run down the face of the chair that used to have two chairs side by side (drex add in number – Chair 5!). Very light and very deep in spots, up to my waist. Hitting a lot of shrubbery and snow not sticking well to anything that resembles a shoot. Definitely some good turns though. Then on the way up the chair (same one- Chair 5!) we see a lot of commotion going on, people un-strapping and trying get to a guy that is upside down at the bottom of a cliff with only about 6 inches of his boots showing (still strapped in) and not moving at all. Everyone was trying to get to him but balls deep snow it is very slow. Crazy to just watch from a chair. Very helpless feeling. People that saw him from the chair were getting to him faster than people on the ground. No redcoats yet. Lots of people heading down there, so we figured more would get in the way? Went up the chair again and they had him out. Which was very good to see. Kinda didn’t think it was going to end well. He was sitting up with all the trolls and looking really dazed, lots of pats on the back. So that pretty much was a wake up call on the day and probably for that kid going for it on his first run of season. Hard start. Just toured the mountain for the rest of the day, nothing major, no crazy hiking, front side was closed, and powder was getting eaten up quick. Another thing, to all of you who wanted to buy one of those new fancy 6 hundred dollar banana carvers and couldn’t justify it like me. Camber still works really well. I hit the hill with 2007 technology, no magna traction, no rocker, and laid it down. No probs.
Also, with not going over 60 mph the whole trip, gas mileage was insane. 34 to the g, whoop whoop! Jimmy Carter was right!!!! He no dummy.

lawn dart… sounds rough. at least he didn’t take a twiggy to they eye or arse. nice work on the “laid it down”–heard teh crete is softer when your on the mervin prgm. its offshore and lb-able, but the gale is coming.
wow. i think a guy got claimed at baker that way last year–submarined. B would know.
a few years back i was on chair 2 right by that cliff on the Fan (just to lookerz left of chair). some dude dropped it and submarined. totally under. didn’t see a spec of any piece of him. WTF!! all the hecklerz on the chair and everyone else who saw it immediately started trippin on him, digging dude out.
good to know peeps generally got your back.
My buddy Tim dug me out in the same zone at Baker years ago on an opening day. Unconsolidated armpit deep pow will swallow you whole. Not cool when your upside down, cant breathe, cant move and you hear your hommies blazing past you. Look out for your crew and protect ya necks!
i pulled a human out of creek bed full of snow once at alpental like 13 years ago. same thing, head first and by the time i finally mushed my way there thru the navel deep pow, the bottom of the board which was pointing straight up into the air wasn’t movin one bit. luckily it was a small female along with my burst of super human strength, i straight yanked her out like a wine cork. she was totally out as i was screaming at her to wake up, then all the sudden she opened blood shot eye’s and proceeded to scream help over and over for like a half a minute. talk about relief. after the trolls finally showed i was out. tons of fresh to be had. a few weeks later i get a call out of the blue and its the girl thanking me for saving her life…didn’t even dawn on me…i saved that chicks life. so yeah, keep an eye out, shit happens.
…thats the same day a giant tree fell on scotts car in the alpental parking lot! crazy day.
you fall you die bro why you think it’s callt extr33m
yeah, this is probably how i will go since i dont ride with anyone anymore. ever since i moved to tahoe i been ridin solo. (and dirty) wait…i snapped my arm in half. i dont even ride anymore.
but i did get an arbor crossbow 162. thing is a tank and a stomping machine. little drop under central express at the top got fs 3d, fs half cabbed (or sw bs 180..whatev), fs 180d, fs cabbed (or sw bs 3..whatev), and nose grabbed. all back to back to back to back to back.
then hiked a rail w/ my uninc and snapped my arm in half. ill show you all the scars from surgery in 5weeks. theyre pretty cool.
SONOFABITCH!! ha. but yeah, arbor crossbow=sic son.

im all loopy on pain meds. went thru 90oxy in one week. i hope this shit heals good enough so i can get out for new years…fuk this is some dear diary shit. time fo mo drugs mo ice and a nap peace.
p.s. ii typed all this switch. left hand is hella talenterd.
harsh bro. i got one of your pics in the injuries gallery. send me more. i’ll post em.
snowboarding in college affected my gpa for sure. study up.
kelson…..don’t worry about recovery time. I think I was snowboarding two or three weeks later after my arm got demolished. If you are having the same surgery I had, your going to have a lot of metal in there. Next time you hit it, you’ll probably just bend the rail and walk away. good luck on the recovery
yeah i get my stitches out a week from today. i had a spiral fractured radius and almost a compound fractured ulna but the bone stayed in my arm. messed up nerves to my hand tho. thumb moves, but is numb as shit. and when the ulna broke it sliced thru my muscle all weird.
a lot of progress has gone down in a week tho. two more weeks and it should be lookin pretty damn good.
