Hit the Pit last weekend–Saturday. Rolled out with Clem/Bjones, met up later wit PK, Trav, Clark. Jetty was impressively unsurfable. Groins was a mess of current and chop. And sticks.
The Cove was choppy, but working. It was really choppy for how dead the wind was. Bout an hour later it cleaned up and got kinda glassy. Then the sun came out. Ayo! Everything was perfect, except for the fact that i can’t surf the Cove for shit. The Cove hates me, but i keep comin back for more. I went over the falls a handful of times. Scary and lame. Managed to surf a couple sessions of gnar unscathed though.
At about 2 the Groins turned on, chop turned off. At that point i had no paddles. So bummed. PK teard it up. I got a front row seat on the end of the jetty. Sunlight was hitting the waves just right–made for some rad looking stuff.
Fun day.

Jetty was surfable Sun, though rip was strong and offshore wind blasting fire hydrant style. Cove was thumpy–not for this chump tho.

right on. i almost drove back out on sunday–being as gas is cheap again. it looked pretty rad from the cams.

The cove can be one of the best and most challenging spots around. Full stand up tubes and all. It was just shitty on Sunday.
Seen it hit a lot of times over the years. It’s amazing when it hits, but be careful of breaking you’re neck when you’re finding yourself being flipped & slammed into the bottom.
It can be a rough experience & not really one for novices when it hits good.

like no one knows where westport is.. you would have to be a wakeboarder to not know about this spot (?)..i dont know..but im guessing the only reason why you havent seen more pics of westport is because the town is just so amazingly beautiful. b if you get to the parking lot early watch all the guys get out of there explores wearing there dockers. follow them up they should be easy to spot with there gators and fanny packs . then sit in the 2 hr line on chair two because it doesn’t open right off the bat then follow em
