but off top of head, Mal Pais/Playa Carmen/Teresa should be significantly less crowded than Tamarindo.

there’s a bunch of guys who read this site that have been to Costa and could give you some pointers.

Hey all,

Myself and 2 buds are going to be in Costa Rica with our girls from Dec 27th till Jan. 4th. We are planning on staying in the Malpais, Playa del Carmen, Santa Teresa area. I’ve heard they have consistently good beach breaks. Which works for us, since we’ve only been surfing for a year in Florida waves.

Can you tell me anything about this area? Are there better places to go that aren’t super packed like Tamarindo?

Sounds like you guys had a rad trip. You guys covered a ton of ground. Thats a bummer that Samara was flat. Thats a sick wave.
