My friends are all really cool. We all get along well, buy each other beers, shots, shoot each other with airsoft guns, hook each other up with gear, take turns on driving to the coast/mtns, scope lines, and buy each other beers. Sometimes we’ll even wait for each other.
The other night is one such example. All day at the ol’ J.O.B i was freaking out looking at the pass cams and getting more and more giddy with calls/text from other friends who don’t work 9 to 5 with reports of sic-ass pow, balls deep, white room, mega spray, whatever. I was super amped to get my ass off the Eastside and b-line it up to Snoqualmie Pass which had been closed for over 24hrs. They’d gotten something like 2 feet of new in that time so the night session was guaranteed to be ella sic.
Got to the meeting place on time (4pm) and met up with friend #1, aka Shane#2. At 4pm got a call from friend #2, aka Kopafeel (that’s your new nickname) stating he’s running a bit late. Cool, no problem…we’ll wait 10 mins. 10 mins turned to 40mins. In that time the Pass closed back down and we missed the boat. A few of my other friends made it up and were ‘stuck’ at the pass with balls deep snow, lifts running and nobody up there. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
I used to live up at Alpental with Eli and when the pass closed and all the kooks (what i am now) from the city couldn’t get up there cause the pass was closed…shiiiit. That’s like a pow day times 10.
I could have had a pow day (or night) times 10 tonight but Kopafeel ef-ing blew it. He did make good though and bought Shane#2 and i some Mickey’s Ice.
Lesson learned: ‘No friends on a powder night.’

ha. at least your ankle isnt exploded so you at least had the possibility of getting up there.
AND youre not on probation so you CAN drink mickeys ice.
fuck me. i am a loser.
no wait, fuck probation im gettin some mickeys ice.
no wait, fuck…ah..fuckin hell…
i don’t feel so bad now. i’m stuck in the shit, down here in the land of flat mountains. Everything in oregon that’s worth a shit has been closed due to high winds. Meadows is awesome with about six inches of pow, any more than that, you have some serious speed issues. Thank good lord, baby jesus i’m back in town next week. Kelson, injured? Definitely hit the Mickey’s Ice. At least I have the Acropolis down here, meat rack is going o-f-f. Five dollar steak dinners, all the while, naked girls dancing for dollar bills. Could be worse.
Claim of the year! Balls Deep snow in the morning. Chest high waves in the afternoon 2 guys out. Ilove Washington
daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaamn! you bastard….
We were at Alpy on Wed afternoon and night. The only way to describe the ridiculousness of these current conditions is: Turbo Boner. HWY 2 is now closed along with I90. Stevens might be accessible this weekend, but who knows for Alpy. Shit. Avy conditions are insane too, there were fractures all over the place along Alpental Rd.
The A-man predicts: it will keep up at a foot a day for however long… Sometime next week, it will open. Chair 1 will be open, but not the cat track. By noon it will have warmed up to 49 degrees. They’ll close everything. The next day, everything will be open, but will suck. Giant chunderballs and fillt in gullies will render the entire shit a bust forever. Back to square one.
oh yeah: on that first day, there will be forty-five thousand wannabes, hasbeens, and neverwuzzes all in front of you in line…in helmets. talking about sidecuts and cambers and aspects and beastie boys.
SWEEEEEEET
I’m a firm believer in ‘no friends on a powder day’. You fools should have left me. You should have charged up to pass before they closed the highway at North Bend even though there was a decent chance that you would have got rejected at exit 47 when they closed that soon after. If not your asses would have ended up at the pass where you would have been puttin’ some wicked pow turns in at Ski Acres, sleeping on the floor in the ski rental building, having to be escorted down the pass the next day without getting a chance to ride. Instead you got some Mickey’s Ice, slept in your own bed, and score asick conditions at Steven’s pass without ever having to wait in a single lift line.
So the lesson here is when your friends, who are generally reliable as a swiss time piece, are exceptionally late…maybe its an omen.
I totally wouldn’t have waited for you that day. And I’m glad i didn’t. It sucks that the pass is closed, but it is for a damn good reason. That morning, there was a natural slide over Alpental road just before the condos which left about 7 feet of snow over the roadway. DB was the first person to see it, literally because he drove straight into it. So after that, patrol ski cut shot 8 (which didn’t go) then blasted just across from the condos below shot 8 which slid all the way to the entrance to the garage. (Mike Moore got an mpeg of it) After that was all cleared, the fucking sysco truck got stuck blocking the road once again for almost an hour. So in the end we only got to ride top chair for an hour and a half, which was insane. THEN, there was yet another natural slide on I-90 just at the end of the bridge before Denny creek going westbound, which buried 3 cars. Soon to follow we heard of another natural slide went about one hour later near ellensburg. The DOT couldn’t even get in to asses the situation until 9am this morn. We got stuck yesterday until 3. There was a caravan escorted by staters going westbound down the eastbound lanes of I-90. I don’t think i’ve ever turned my peeps on in the car, but i did yesterday. It was gnarly
